Flourishing in Drought Time

We arrived in Brasília during the driest time of the year when the grass is parched and the trees are drooping.  Nevertheless there are several trees in full bloom: The Ipê Amarelo (Yellow Ipe) and the Pata de Vaca (This is translated “Cow’s Foot” because of the shape of it’s leaves.)

“But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him.  He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream.  It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green.  It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” – Jeremiah 17:7,8

Lovely reminders of God’s wonderful truth!

  1. The passage is similar to Psalm 1. I was not aware of that passage in Jeremiah. It is hope-giving in a time when our country’s future seems uncertain.
