This is photo #45 (of 50) in a series about life in Brazil. Safety standards are different in Brazilian culture from those in the U.S. We are sometimes amazed at tourist sites with no protective railing to keep people from falling over cliffs. But at the same time we appreciate it that people are expected to use their own good sense. These concrete barbells are in our public park. There is no sign saying, “Use at your own risk,” because people already know that.
Oh my goodness! Do people actually lift these?
